Following Tran Thanh’’s suggestion, I paid a visit to East by Ngo Thanh Hoa.
It’s founded by the first MasterChef Vietnam winner! We crafted our own little tasting menu from the à la carte as my friend couldn’t eat meat.

Chef Hoa adds a hint of spice into most of his dishes; and it works so well.
My absolute favorites are:

1. Scallop & prawn risotto...
Creamy, rich, and just melts in your mouth.

2. The pan-fried New Zealand toothfish fillet with passionfruit, Hoi An chili, and fish sauce tender, juicy, with that kick of heat.

Chef Hoa is known for “cooking with love,” blending Vietnamese flavors with modern, European techniques. The vibe here? Super cozy, intimate and the staffs are friendly and knowledgeable.


And even though he’s a big name, Chef Hoa was really humble. Chef Hoa asked for feedback; and really listened.
 No ego. Just passion and heart.

East isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a whole experience.
