Crispy Swedish Apple Pie
Ingredients
Apples: 8 (small, or 4 large), peeled, cored, and sliced
Lemon/Lime: 1 (zested and juiced)
Granulated Sugar (Filling): 64 gr (0.75 dl)
Brown Sugar (Filling): 2 tbsp
Ground Cinnamon (Filling): 3 tsp
Potato Starch/Cornstarch: 4 tbsp
Arla Vanilla Sauce (for serving)
Crunchy Topping
Granulated Sugar (Topping): 170 gr (2 dl)
Salt: 2 pinches
Oats: 120 gr (3 dl)
All-Purpose Flour: 90 gr (1.5 dl)
Baking Powder: 1 tsp
Vanilla Sugar: 2 tsp
Butter: 175 gr, melted
Light Syrup: 70 gr (0.5 dl)
Instructions
Prep Oven and Filling:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with the lemon/lime juice and zest, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and potato starch/cornstarch until the apples are well coated.
Pour the apple mixture into an ungreased 9-inch pie dish.
Prepare Topping:
In a separate medium bowl, mix together the topping's granulated sugar, salt, oats, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and vanilla sugar.
Add the melted butter and light syrup. Mix until the ingredients are combined and the mixture is crumbly.
Assemble and Bake:
Spread the topping mixture evenly over the apple filling.
Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serving
Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving warm with Arla Vanilla Sauce or a dollop of whipped cream/vanilla ice cream.
